I thought it was going to be more of a bio-pic as well. It feels more like a rights of passage rom-com, even going so far as having some slow-mo in the training montage and our hero sailing off into the sunset (after an "I'm Spartacus" moment). All that said I really liked it. I've got a bit of a soft spot for rom-com's anyway, but it's got a great script and a good cast and I think it works really well.
