Im going to have a moan. Look away now if you think that everything in the garden is lovely.
Over the last few weeks I have been confronted with constant incompetence. Grrrr. I speak now of businesses and government agencies. From making an enquiry to say I want to buy a product and never getting a call back to trying to book a very expensive hotel for a party – and never getting a call back, to the NHS. Yes the NHS. I have had to chase people constantly for routine things. Everyone saying ‘That shouldnt have happened’ – remember that post? I have always in the past given these guys a lot of leeway, its an institution after all and we are lucky to have it, right? Well, actually we do pay for it, and a fair amount too. I would go private if I thought they would refund my contributions.
You know I love my lists and as a rule I am a very efficient and organised lady – maybe thats why these incompetents irritate me so. The list of people I am waiting to get back to me grows by the hour.
So, this austerity package – does that mean government agencies and the NHS management are going to get worse?? or is some fab chick in thigh high leather boots going to stride in and make the lot of them more efficient? Oh I so hope its the latter. Maybe that lady who sorts the shops out, she might be free for the next 10 years.
Yes private businesses are just as bad and for some reason it feels worse, they should actually care about getting business. Without exception every single one I have contacted recently has been diabolical. Apart from my facialist, yes you read it correctly, not fatalist but you may be forgiven for thinking that with the general thrust of this post :) (its the new buzz word for someone who does facials) anyway, she’s exceptionally good at business as well as facials, she does Angelina’s when she is in London, dont you know! I like her. But the rest of them? Actually I feel sorry for them. They are in no way going to survive in the coming months/years. Some provider of excellence will step in and sweep up all their custom. I hope they call me first, these ship-shape businesses, I would love to give an excellent business some cash.

The meteorologists are proclaiming a heatwave for the weekend. Phew! I like it though; hot and sultry, reminds me of Elizabeth Tailor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Sultry, steamy, very sexy, hot, hot, hot. Its warm here at Chateau Rhia but not unbearable, I have a fan you see, a lovely stand-up floor fan that cools us down, oh and lots of open windows, as many windows as I have radiators. Yes my lovelies, we will not get breathless through the heat, maybe through passion though? :)
Talking of chateaux, I am being whisked off again this weekend, to gay Paris this time, to celebrate Bastille Day,(and no I am not a socialist, in fact not a political animal – I just like French food and wine :) just for the day though – ahh Paris, we have not embraced each other for a while, I am looking forward to it. Mister knows his way around Paris and so it will be a fabulous time. Lucky Chick. Back on Monday. Keep cool, see you soon x

I dont think I will be going on any tours this year, with this weather who needs to travel too far? Next year though, I am planning a few. I havent got any fixed dates yet and I know its quite a way off but please express your interest and I will get back to you first when I have a firm date. What’s that you say, you didnt realise Id gone? :)
Oh what a splendid time I have had. Wonderful weather, the best dining, ever, laughter, lots of pampering and that was just on the way there ;)
These adorable little trips away are such fun. I do enjoy them but I wouldnt accept an offer like this unless I had seen the lovely fella at least once beforehand, for a dinner date or somesuch. A few days are an awfully long time to be with someone you dont click with, on both sides. Luckily me and my guy, well we clickety clicked from the get go.
Mister had business to attend to most days (poor thing) and so I was given carte blanche to do with myself what I may and a few pampering sessions were the order of the day! Mind you, I did pamper him too when he got back ;)
I have been massaged, pummelled, exfoliated, preened, trimmed and waxed. I have had face masks like rubber peeled off me, had my chakras balanced (hmm), had 
reflexology and a host of people generally prettifying my feet. I even had a personal trainer (sadist). My nails are buffed, my skin is glowing and my hair is bouncy. In short, I am refreshed, relaxed, happy and raring to go. Come and get me?

Yes it is decided (almost!), I shall be taking a little holiday of around 3 weeks to South Africa in January 2011. I know its a long time away but a trip like this needs planning. Lots of planning. I have got my flight – its free hehe. I managed to accumulate enough points for a first class flight to Cape Town, lucky me. Just have to pick the gorgeous hotels and stunning safari lodges now. Wow they are going to be special. I am so looking forward to it. The last time I was in Africa, I was in Zimbabwe before all the nonsense started. I loved it, truly magical. Mmmm, yes I shall be travelling the wine route, the garden route, a 2 day spa break and of course around 4 days of safari. I know a lot of my fellas have been to South Africa before, so I would appreciate any tips you may have – especially places to stay and recommended restaurants of the gourmet variety are always welcomed! And what if you are in South Africa in January? Well, yes I will be having a few days where I will be available for you. I know I said I wasnt going to be doing too much travelling this year, but I have been bitten by the cold tooth of England -and it hurts :)
I fancy a detox, a spa break – in Thailand (again). However, I dont think I can take the time off. I have been looking though, at different options. Ohhh lovely places. I like Thailand, the last time I went I was backpacking on a year out; this time though, I want a teeny bit of luxury. I think with a spa break it has to be a stunning location where you go, thats therapeutic in itself isnt it? So I fancied a detox. No not like a alcoholic/drug addict detox, although refraining from the champers would not go amiss, I am sure ;) No I mean a serious, ‘get all that rubbish out of my system!’ detox and look and feel fantastic as a result of it.
I have been reading good things about detoxes but they sound absolutely horrific. Colon cleanses (I had one of those a few years back, not too bad, not nice though), nothing to eat but concocted juices ala carrot and beetroot, that sort of thing (will I start to munch on the furniture do you think?), I need to change my attitude – carrot and beetroot mush is GOOD!, massages – thats alright, yoga, fine with that. So not that bad at all really.
The problem is, I have thousands and thousands of flying club points with Virgin Atlantic and I wanted to use them for this but they dont fly to Thailand. They fly to lots of other places, yes but for some reason, it has to be Thailand for me, for this, if I venture abroad, maybe I should look into other places? Sooooo, after more initial research. I saw a place in Devon, a detox place. Didnt I just come from there? :) Devon in February? Not exactly inspiring or relaxing. Brrr. And then I got to thinking, why dont I just do it in London? You know do it myself. Pop out for massages (and yes another colonic), go to yoga classes every morning, blend my own juices, turn up the heating (sorry gas lady) and wear a bikini all week? Yes I could do that. The only problem is temptation. As the wonderful Oscar Wilde said ‘The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it… I can resist everything but temptation’.
I have many temptations here in London as you can imagine. One being getting an email from one of my fellas saying, ‘Ive booked us in at The Ivy, hope you are free lady!’ So what is a girl to do? Keep researching, thats what and do it next month, or the month after? :)

Oh I do like these scream atcha headlines dont I? hehehe Maybe I have missed my vocation and I should have secured a job with ‘The Sun’ or ‘The (my son is a fishfinger) Sport’ – or possibly not :)
Now then, the club I refer to is a wine club. ‘Not before time!’ I hear you shout. The ever-delightful Mr I, recommended the Sunday Times Wine Club. I have been a member of a wine club before and I cant remember why I discontinued my membership, perhaps not enough of the sparkly stuff. Anyway, I decided to join this one and I had my first box delivered today. It looks good, wine tasting notes included and provenance and regular tastings in London too, that suits me!
As I mentioned before I am very keen to pair the perfect wine with the perfect dish and this might just do the trick. Its exciting too getting a delivery, a bit like Christmas. I dont aspire to be a wine bore though. Tell me if I am and I will nip down the ‘offy’ and get you an Asti Spumante tout suite darlin’ :)
Is there such a thing as a champagne club? – takes a minute to check – oh, sadly nothing of note :( Another business opp though for a budding entrepreneur out there?
I forgot to tell you that I did a little tour (not that kind of tour!) around the champagne region in France last year and very delectable it was too. I visited my favourite champagne house – Veuve Clicquot – and had a taste of the Grand Dame vintage. Very different to the normal vintage or the usual champagne that we all know and love and much more expensive, not sure if it is worth it. I went down into the caves where they process and store the precious stuff, they greeted me like an old friend seeing as I buy so much of it (only kidding, they should though :) I didnt bring any back because it was the same price as the UK.
France is glorious in the summer, isnt it? I love it and feel very much at home there whenever I visit. Holidays this year extend to golf in Spain so far. I really want to go to South Africa though if I can and I am going on the Orient Express too. Oh I am so excited about that! And then there’s Ascot and Glyndebourne and The Last Night of The Proms. Its going to be a good year (is that a tyred expression?, ducks for cover, yes I know groan, groan!)

Whew!, I have a lot of things I want to get done by the end of the year and for 2010 too. I have just started to put together my worldwide tour list for next year, I want a new car, I will be moving within a few months and, as if that is not enough, I am investing in some new projects. I like to keep busy but you know I always have time for you darling x
Take a look at my forthcoming tours here. I am here there and everywhere! I have just sent out a newsletter to the fellas on my VIP List as they get advance notice of dates. I am definitely (bookings permitting) going to be in Dubai this December. I know it has taken a little while for me to get things organized for that but I am just about to book flights and accommodation once I hear back from the chaps in Dubai. All booked! Available in Dubai 15-20 December in a beautiful 5 star hotel on Jumeirah Beach.
Quite a few trips planned to the States next year as well, including Las Vegas, New Orleans, California and back to New York City. I am also hoping to spend a month in Sydney too. Perhaps we can meet up on one of those trips? I would love it! x
