Im going to have a moan. Look away now if you think that everything in the garden is lovely.
Over the last few weeks I have been confronted with constant incompetence. Grrrr. I speak now of businesses and government agencies. From making an enquiry to say I want to buy a product and never getting a call back to trying to book a very expensive hotel for a party – and never getting a call back, to the NHS. Yes the NHS. I have had to chase people constantly for routine things. Everyone saying ‘That shouldnt have happened’ – remember that post? I have always in the past given these guys a lot of leeway, its an institution after all and we are lucky to have it, right? Well, actually we do pay for it, and a fair amount too. I would go private if I thought they would refund my contributions.
You know I love my lists and as a rule I am a very efficient and organised lady – maybe thats why these incompetents irritate me so. The list of people I am waiting to get back to me grows by the hour.
So, this austerity package – does that mean government agencies and the NHS management are going to get worse?? or is some fab chick in thigh high leather boots going to stride in and make the lot of them more efficient? Oh I so hope its the latter. Maybe that lady who sorts the shops out, she might be free for the next 10 years.
Yes private businesses are just as bad and for some reason it feels worse, they should actually care about getting business. Without exception every single one I have contacted recently has been diabolical. Apart from my facialist, yes you read it correctly, not fatalist but you may be forgiven for thinking that with the general thrust of this post :) (its the new buzz word for someone who does facials) anyway, she’s exceptionally good at business as well as facials, she does Angelina’s when she is in London, dont you know! I like her. But the rest of them? Actually I feel sorry for them. They are in no way going to survive in the coming months/years. Some provider of excellence will step in and sweep up all their custom. I hope they call me first, these ship-shape businesses, I would love to give an excellent business some cash.
Rant over.
Thank God for my fellas, honestly. Paris was of course exceptional, when is it never? I brought you back a postcard ;) Thanks Mister C, I will never look at croissants in quite the same way ever again hehehe :) xxx

I forgot and I couldnt pop off across the channel without telling you this…
I am now sending you the menu of what we will be dining on (for those of you who have booked my lunch or dinner dates here) Does that sound like I have aspirations to be a chef? Oh no, no, no! I just want everything to be perfect for you. I love (no, really) love to look after you. Is that OTT? Humour me darling :) Do you know, I think I was brought up to be like this, my whole family are perfect hosts and hostesses. Anyway, here’s a flavour, pardon the pun; a couple of dinners recently. Of course it takes more time and effort than just getting ready for a dinner date out (I love those too!), but you’re worth it, arent you? Oh and the wines and champagne; I want to get to a point where we try a different wine with each course, pairings that are perfect, Im about to go on a course. And now I really must be off, I have fancy pants to throw in a bag :)
Smoked salmon with ponzu and japanese wands
Free range roast duckling with orange stuffing, asparagus & summer vegetables and baby potatoes
Chocolate torte fit for a millionaire with jersey (oh so naughty) extra thick cream
Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons William Fevre 2007
**************************************************
Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut NV
Watercress, pear and goats cheese salad with honey and mustard dressing
Fruits de Mer – dressed Cornish lobster (dont you just hate a naked lobster?), Cornish white crab meat, giant prawns with a seasonal salad of broad beans, courgettes, feta and mint. (normally I go a little crazy with the Fruits de Mer, I once took a taxi back and forth to Borough Market (its a fair trek) and got clams, scallops, mussels, langoustines, samphire, oysters and more – of course we couldnt eat it all – and this particular gent, with this menu specified ‘not too much’, so I kept it simple-ish)
Rhia’s special sundae just for you -
Coconut ice cream, lime sorbet, diced mango, cracked pepper, caribbean liquor, crispy toasted coconut flakes and a kiss x

The meteorologists are proclaiming a heatwave for the weekend. Phew! I like it though; hot and sultry, reminds me of Elizabeth Tailor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Sultry, steamy, very sexy, hot, hot, hot. Its warm here at Chateau Rhia but not unbearable, I have a fan you see, a lovely stand-up floor fan that cools us down, oh and lots of open windows, as many windows as I have radiators. Yes my lovelies, we will not get breathless through the heat, maybe through passion though? :)
Talking of chateaux, I am being whisked off again this weekend, to gay Paris this time, to celebrate Bastille Day,(and no I am not a socialist, in fact not a political animal – I just like French food and wine :) just for the day though – ahh Paris, we have not embraced each other for a while, I am looking forward to it. Mister knows his way around Paris and so it will be a fabulous time. Lucky Chick. Back on Monday. Keep cool, see you soon x

I dont think I will be going on any tours this year, with this weather who needs to travel too far? Next year though, I am planning a few. I havent got any fixed dates yet and I know its quite a way off but please express your interest and I will get back to you first when I have a firm date. I usually get booked a few months in advance and quite a few gents have already contacted me regarding South Africa so that’s exciting!
South Africa (Capetown) ~ January 2011
Las Vegas ~ April 2011
Cannes ~ May 2011
St Tropez ~ September 2011
St Barts ~ December 2011
Where have I toured before? Well I have been on tour to New York, Dubai, Edinburgh, London (many times when I lived elsewhere), Bath and Dublin. Wonderful times and wonderful memories, perhaps we can make some more when I see you this time around? Getting excited already! x

I was just going through some emails from my lovely fellas, guys who perhaps dont like to leave a review but are such gentlemen they like to say thank you anyway. I though I would share a few with you. It is always my pleasure to meet chaps like this, indeed it is, thanks to you too :)
♥You are delightful! Thank you for a wonderful time.
♥Hello Rhia, Welcome to London. I hope it’s treating you well. I imagine you’ll have seen the latest Field Report you’ve inspired: what a beautifully written tribute. At the risk of sounding patronising – and please accept it’s not the intention – I hope you realise that its a very treasurable nourishment you provide that enables someone to reflect on an encounter so glowingly. What a lovely gift it is, that you possess.
♥Thank you so much for a really great afternoon last Thursday. I loved the lunch, fairly obvious really when it stretched to something close to three hours!. It was really nice to have enough time to establish a connection, and get a feel for Rhia-the-person. As for the rest, I absolutely loved that time with you, as you probably realised!……you have the most lovely smooth skin and gorgeous bum. However for me it has to come with the package of intelligence,a great outlook and view of the world. Well done sweetie, you are right up there!!. I know how you hit the spot, because when I’m delayed or having to wait, my thoughts sneak back to you……….and thats a mental picture to hold onto!!.
♥I very much enjoyed the couple of hours we spent together. I think you are one of the nicest women I have met in a long time, and I just wanted to tell you that.
♥A perfect time I thought, to send you a message to say thank you thank you, thank you for last Friday. I really had such a lovely time with you. It was everything that I had thought about and more and a true reflection of the delights promised from your website. I was left revived, relaxed, regenerated (and drained) and fulfilled in many many ways. This is all down to you :)

Do you remember that contemporary art installation at Saatchi; ‘My Bed’ by Tracey Emin? Am I right in thinking it sold for £20,000? Why, oh why didnt I think of it? My bed is much more interesting, especially after we have wriggled around in it for a while ;) I am a very tidy girl usually of course but you can imagine all the paraphernalia when Mr has been here; clothes discarded through passion, decadently strewn knickers, a stocking here or there, tissues, massage bottle tops, empty champagne flutes and the rest. Darn, I wish I had thought of it first.

Oh and after me telling you I dont get any nonsense anymore too! I had an email recently from a gent (and I use that term very loosely :) who said he was 38, after speaking to him on the phone, he certainly did not sound that age, he sounded very, very young. No big deal you say but as you know I am a little particular about who I see and of what age. Did you know that some fellas lie about their age to slip under the net? I dont know why they bother really, just find another lady who is happy to see them surely?
All ladies in this business will be aware of our in-built antenae, our female intuition is probably honed a fair bit more than your average woman. So, anyway, I speak to this particular fella and then get some odd emails about having booked a table for after 10pm and things like that. I checked, the restaurant does not accept bookings that late. A few other things rang some alarm bells, things didnt ring true, he sounded at worst a timewaster and at best, well very immature; something was definitely not right about him, so I thought ‘Do you know what, I dont want to see this guy’ So right away, I email him and tell him that Im perhaps not the lady for him, a good few days before the meeting. My safety and well-being has to be paramount.
I get an email this evening, days later, threatening me with a bad review on Captain69 even though he hasnt even seen me. I of course told him to do what he may, I dont respond to petty threats like that. What a silly boy. Now with that in mind, would you say that is the behaviour of a 38 year old? Hmm, me neither.
Now, as you can imagine, I am more than relieved that I didnt see this guy and that I cancelled the appointment if indeed it was a genuine appointment; these type of people thrive on thinking you have given them a little attention by actually getting ready for them.
Anyway, I always listen to my intuition, always. The only times I have ignored it in the past, I have regretted it. Unfortunately there are some nasty pieces of work out there, I have had a few contact me over the years, very sick puppies; I just wish they wouldnt get in touch with me, but sometimes a lady’s website lures the deranged like a moth to the flame. Hey ho, it cant be all roses I guess but like I say, I am indeed very happy that we never actually met; can you imagine?

Mr x popped up from the southwest again recently. Its always a pleasure to see Mr x :) Mr x likes his cup of tea after, well after some slap and tickle, if I may be so bold?
Whilst enjoying his Earl Grey, we got to talking about afternoon teas. ‘Oh do you think I should put that as a option on my website Mr x?’ says I ‘Do you know, you may have something there’ says he ‘You can offer tea and you are definitely the crumpet’ Hehehe, Well done Mr x!, I shall put it on :)
‘I am very proud of you darling‘ said Mr x, ‘‘Taking the leap, moving up here and taking London on’ Maybe thats my audacious side coming to the fore though ;) – thats an in-joke by the way hahaha. London seems to like me well enough and he is a gem Mr x, a total gem.
So tea and crumpet anyone?…
I can offer an afternoon tea as good as the Ritz; delicate sandwiches, cakes, scones and crumpet afterwards, that will be me :) A selection of teas; Earl Grey, Traditonal English tea, Darjeeling, even some fruit teas if that is your thing?. Just tell me what you like and I will get it. If tea is not your thing (I personally dont drink tea or coffee), well we can always fall back on the old favourite, champagne! I need a week’s notice and a deposit for this chaps;
More details here. Traditional English Afternoon Tea.
See you very soon!

Mr B sent me this fine joke, thanks B x
A man in a hot air balloon realised that he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a woman below. He decended a bit more and shouted, “Excuse me, can you help? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don’t know where I am.”
The woman below replied, “You’re in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You’re between latitude 51 and 52 degrees north, and between longitude1 and 2 degrees west.”
“You must be in IT,” said the balloonist.
“I am,” replied the woman, “How did you know?”
“Well,” answered the baloonist,” everything you told me is technically correct, but I’ve no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I’m still lost. Frankly, you’ve not been much help at all. If anything, you’ve delayed my trip.”
The woman below responded, “You must be in Management.”
“I am,” replied the balloonist, “but how did you know?”
“Well,” said the woman, “You don’t know where you are or where you’re going. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise, which you’ve no idea how to keep, and you expect people beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you are in exactly the same position as you were before we met, but now, somehow, it’s my f****ing fault!.”

I went to see the Grace Kelly exhibition at the V&A the other day. Its a collection of the lady’s clothes, hats, jewellery and even sunglasses from the 1940′s until her untimely death in 1982. I love the 40′s/50′s exhibits, I would definitely wear them now, not too keen on the 1970′s kaftans though unless I am padding around the pad :)
Actually I used to wear 1940′s fashion – pencil skirts, little veiled hats, seamed silk stockings, stilettos, that sort of thing when I was 15 – amazes me now actually that I had the gall to do that, you know, when you are not trying to grab attention to yourself.
What a stunning beauty the lady was though, a classical beauty. My inspirations in the past have been sex goddesses if you like, Marilyn Monroe definitely, coupled with elegance though. Not in your face sexuality, slutty stuff – I know lots of fellas like a good slutty look occasionally. hehe I got a lot of comments about my last pics – the one with the naughty secretary look and how it was a surprise – I had a bit of devilment in me that day :)
I guess what I am saying is that behind closed doors, well thats all frisky fun and fine, not in public though, not for me. Its for that reason that I am not too keen on the obvious ‘sexy’ look of some of the wanna-be celebs of today. (Yes I am turning into my mother) A couple of belts to cover your cold bits on a night out? Eeek!!, brrrrrr, Not for me, but I do admire their guts to do it, and good luck to them.
I have never really thought about ‘my style’ before. I dont really follow fashion, having my kind of figure pretty much excludes you from a lot of so-called fashion and as Oscar Wilde so very succinctly put it “Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months”.
I have tended to stick to what I think suits me. I have classical pieces that I have kept for 15 years. Good clothes dont wear out if you look after them. What someone like Kate Moss wears would look totally ridiculous on me. I veer towards classical and elegant but hopefully with a hint at the curves beneath. I am loving the dress above! I hardly ever wear jeans (a few times a year if it is very cold?), trousers rarely. I find them deeply uncomfortable. I prefer my dresses and skirts. Never short (unless it is inside my place and you have requested it;) I cant think of anything worse than striding through London with a skirt up around my – well you know what. I dont like the unwanted attention you see.
So back to Ms Grace. I have obviously been aware of her, may have seen a few of her films but I think I will take a closer look. I ordered ‘High Society’, one of the movie’s she starred in, I think just before she got married; it arrived today. Yes I like her style, I must try and watch it over the weekend.
Here’s the link for the exhibition if you have a mind to go and see it.
